If you're hanging fluorescent fixtures on a drywalled ceiling and are using toggle bolts, use the cardboard box the fixture came with to make a template of the fixture. Knock out the holes you need removed from the fixture, and transfer those holes directly onto the cardboard. Cut out the cardboard in the appropriate places, and you'll find the cardboard is much easier to work with on the ceiling while standing on a ladder. You can square up your marks on the ceiling much faster.
